Contributions for Lexie EP 01

Yo. You like foxes? You like superpowers? This is a cartoon show about that. My friend MattPan of Slam Tomato Cartoons teamed up with many artists and animators to create the first episode of Lexie the Superfox, and I'm part of the team as well. It's been great that I finally get to contribute to a cartoon, which I rarely do because of being focused on other hobbies that aren't animation related.

If you haven't watched it yet, go check out his show right now, either on Newgrounds or YouTube.

So without further ado, here are some stuff I made for the first episode!

Backgrounds

These are abstract backgrounds I've made for both the dream sequence and the bar fight. All of these are done in Krita. This was my first time making some freeform backgrounds, and you'll see some similar ones later on.

Lake

These ones are my attempt in doing something scary to fit the tone for the scenes that uses them, especially with the last one being all scribbly. My most favorite out of those is the one with all the blood and oil mixed together. I wanted to make it look gross and queasy as Matt wanted it to be so I overlayed the background with a texture that emphasizes the detail and painted around some more junk and blend modes.

Bar fight

This is the last batch of the backgrounds I've made. This is where I had some fun coloring and painting them. BG168 was improved more by Matt making it more purple and letting the character animation stand out more

In addition, these particular ones are both used in this scene and the dream sequence.

The last one is where I went pretty crazy with it. Matt helped make the colors more unified to a less distracting but way more bolder red look as the original version was an explosion of rainbows. If you look closely, you can see a portion of a storyboard panel overlayed.

Misc.

For the theater scene, I did a still 3D render for a short shot.

This was initially inspired by the crappy 3D bargain bin animated films you'd see in stores, on the internet or on a foreign TV channel next to Booba and The Garfield Show. But I ended up taking inspiration from a very popular indie you're probably familiar of. The render itself will give you a hint.

Some final words

So that's all I've got for this page. Whenever the next episode comes, I hope to share more.

BTW, I also contributed to another animation, which is a Mammal Squad short involving Doki and Miyah. I helped with most of the sound mixing done in REAPER.

If you ever need me for any animated short, film or show, please don't hesitate to contact me either on my Newgrounds or send me an email at charlynnevalyxz (AT) proton (DOT) me

I only view projects that aren't crypto garbage or object shows by the way. also, only those 18 and over can message me for projects. but anyways reach me out if possible.
